Q: What kind of professional background do you have?

A: I built the Great Fusion Hair brand that specializes in providing luxury hair extension services. I am a fusion hair extension guru and  consultant beauty professionals. I’ve met women with so many issues which made me want to develop shampoo and conditioner that works on all hair types and colors.  So my hair care line will be out in January 2016.

Q:  What made you want to start a luxury hair extension service?

A: Specialized hair extensions are quickly becoming popular. Women are starting to shift from traditional weaves and clip-ins  to strand by strand hair extensions. After moving to New York i knew i had an invaluable skill that was highly marketable.

Q: What is different about your hair extensions services?

A: We offer  our clients personalized services. We get them hair that matches their own and work with the client’s styling needs. Flexibility is important so we do offer late or early appointments.

Q:  What was the most challenging thing about getting your idea off the ground?

A: Finding the right  hair suppliers. That entails a few things. High performance luxury hair, an assortment of colors and application methods but most importantly good guarantee/return policies.

Q:  Why are extensions so expensive?

A: Great Fusion Hair mostly uses hair extensions that is collected from people with healthy unprocessed hair. The reality is healthy unprocessed hair retails as a high priced commodity.

Q:  What is your strangest work story?

A: A man brought his mistress requesting extensions similar to Mrs X. (He showed me a picture). It turned out that the wife was also a client of mine. An awkward situation to say the least.

Q:  What have you done to publicize your brand?

A: Great fusion hair has sponsored fashion events like Africa Fashion Week in New York City. In addition to sponsorships we use social media outlets like Facebook, Instagram, and twitter. Listing our details on business web pages such as yelp and yellow pages. I’m a believer in using Google advertising tools like Adwords.

Q:  What kinds of training have you had?

A: I’m certified in Fusion Hair extensions and trained in microlink and tape extension applications. I’m always on the lookout for new hair extension methods.

Q:  What do most people not understand about Fusion hair extensions?

A: That they need to be taken care of well. Improper care often results in damage of the client’s own hair, tangling and matting. Strand by strand extensions should be treated just like hair that is growing from the scalp. It should be cleansed, conditioned and styled with gentle hair products.

Q:  How did you get funding for your Idea?

A: I saved money from  tutoring gigs and bought the tools i needed for applying fusion hair extensions. When I just started there were times when I didn’t have the capital to buy hair extensions before an appointment,  so i’d ask clients to pay a deposit that covered the cost of the extensions.
