Mahogany Mignon is a host and celebrity media correspondent; here is a link to her website:
Q: What made you want to be a host?
A: Growing up, my peers and family would always tell me that I “talk a mile a minute”, in other words, I love to talk. I’ve always had the gift to gab plus I love to elevate others. Hosting allows for use of my natural talking head abilities while helping elevate the brand of many.
Q: What qualifies one to be a celebrity media correspondent?
A: Well, the term celebrity speaks to the ability to obtain “access” to mainstream talent and convince them that your platform is worthy of their attention and intimate conversation. As far as qualifications are concerned, education is the main benefactor in obtaining success as a media correspondent. You should love to research a myriad of topics and love to educate the public. You should add your own style and niche to your delivery.
Q: Your website says you were “seated media” at Harpo Studio’s The Life You Want Weekend. What does being seated media entail?
A: Being invited as Seated Media at Oprah Winfrey’s “The Life You Want Weekend” in Auburn Hills, Michigan was a dream come true. Seated media is granted for media personnel and offers “seated” coverage for magazines, journalists and independent broadcasting professionals. The content is later published in our media platforms.
Q: Your website also says you are taking a break from your day job to pursue hosting. What kind of day job did you have?
A: I worked retail sales for what seems like forever and I found it rather enjoying and rewarding because it allowed for me to engage the public and further my interpersonal skill set.
Q: Who are some of your professional inspirations?
A: Iyanla Vanzant, Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, Wendy Williams to name a few. I love professionals who are at the top of their game regardless of the odds that were once stacked against them. I follow those who are already where I want to be. I always aim high!
Q: How does your military background help you in your pursuit of an entertainment career?
A: The presence of the military shows my love and dedication to my country and also demonstrates my love for diversity. The military presents an air of being well rounded and disciplined. Entertainment is a place where discipline and determination are key factors to reaching your goals.
Q: Who is your dream interview?
A: My dream interview is dedicated to each and every talent that I have the pleasure of interviewing. Every moment where I am interviewing and elevating a brand story my dreams are fulfilled.
Q: What is the best example of a celebrity interview that you have ever seen and what made it so great?
A: Watching Oprah interview Whitney Houston during a very volatile time in Whitney’s life and career. I believe that the goal of every interview should be to shine the best light on the celebrity bridging respect for them as a human being. Overall sustaining a high level of trust.
Q: What is the worst example of a celebrity interview and what made it bad?
A: Any interview where a celebrity felt attacked as a result of speaking about their private or public lives.
